Belize included in reported list of countries facing US visa pause

By Belize Live News Staff: Uncertainty is growing for prospective US visa applicants following reports that the United States plans to temporarily suspend visa processing for citizens of 75 countries, including Belize.

The reported pause is expected to begin on January 21, 2026, as part of a broader review of visa screening and security procedures by the U.S. Department of State. Media outlets say consular posts worldwide have been instructed to halt visa adjudications during the review.

According to a list obtained by Fox News, the countries potentially affected span the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Alongside Belize, several Caribbean nations are reportedly included.

While a State Department spokesperson confirmed to Reuters that a suspension is planned, officials have not clarified how long the pause may last or which visa categories will be affected.

As of now, no official statement has been released by the U.S. Embassy in Belize or the Department of State. Applicants are being urged to monitor official channels for updates as the situation develops.

This remains a developing story.
