Opposition Leader Tracy Taegar Panton demands transparency on proposed telecom acquisition

By Belize Live News Staff: Opposition Leader Tracy Taegar Panton is urging Belizeans to take action amid growing concerns over secrecy surrounding the proposed BTL acquisition.

In a call to the nation, Panton said Belizeans are demanding openness, honesty, and accountability, especially when major public assets and large sums of money are involved. She warned that another multi-million-dollar transaction could deepen economic strain at a time when families are already burdened by high food prices, rent, utilities, and other essential costs.

Panton criticized what she described as a troubling pattern of government decisions made behind closed doors, saying Belizeans should reject secrecy, sweetheart arrangements, and governance that places the burden on ordinary citizens.

She ended her statement with a rallying call, urging Belizeans to make their voices heard and stand up against what she sees as unjust and opaque decision-making.

“Enough is enough,” Panton said, encouraging citizens to remain alert and engaged.
