By Belize Live News Staff: Belize is intensifying its aviation diplomacy efforts in Europe, meeting this week with several major airlines to pitch the country’s growing tourism momentum and make the case for expanded long-haul connectivity.
Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler led the delegation, supported by CEO Nicole Usher, BTIA President Efren Perez, BTB research analysts, air service development consultants, and representatives from Belize’s European marketing agency, FINN Partners. The team met with airline executives across the United Kingdom, Germany, and France: markets that collectively represent hundreds of thousands of potential long-haul travelers.
According to tourism officials, the goal is clear: strengthen Belize’s visibility, demonstrate solid data-driven demand, and secure new or improved routes into the country. Meetings highlighted Belize’s tourism growth, rising interest among European adventure and luxury travelers, and the success of recent marketing campaigns throughout the EU region.
The European market is considered one of Belize’s most valuable long-term opportunities, but also one of the most competitive. With nearby destinations securing seasonal and year-round flights, Belize is working to ensure it remains on the radar as airlines plan future expansions.
Belize’s updated strategy includes deeper public-private partnerships, stronger integration with international travel wholesalers, and a targeted media push designed to increase European awareness ahead of upcoming travel seasons.
Officials say continuous engagement is crucial, and Belize intends to keep up its presence in the European aviation space until firm commitments for improved connectivity are secured.
