Mystery fire in Orange Walk: vehicle burns as driver disappears

By Belize Live News Staff: A late-night vehicle fire in Orange Walk Town is under police investigation after a Ford SUV was found engulfed in flames near the Establo roundabout around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

According to police, officers responded to reports of a vehicle fire and upon arrival, found a blue Ford SUV with Corozal license plates completely consumed by flames in front of Indian Hill BWell. Firefighters were on the scene extinguishing the blaze.

The security guard at the nearby gas station told police that around 9:45 p.m., he noticed the SUV parked in front of the gate. Shortly after, the vehicle began emitting smoke from the front, which quickly turned into flames.

Witnesses reported seeing a Hispanic man, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exiting the burning vehicle before fleeing toward Trial Farm Village. The driver has not yet been located, and police investigations are ongoing.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of foul play and are appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the driver or determine the cause of the fire.
