By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can now mark their calendars for the 2026 Public and Bank Holidays, officially released by the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries. The list, signed by Kareem Musa, confirms thirteen national holidays, reflecting Belize’s cultural diversity and historical legacy.
The new year will kick off with New Year’s Day on January 1, followed by George Price Day on January 15 — celebrating the Father of the Nation. March brings National Heroes and Benefactors Day on the 9th, while the Easter weekend holidays fall from April 3 to April 6.
Midyear, Belizeans will observe Labour Day on May 1, Emancipation Day on August 1, and St. George’s Caye Day on September 10. Later that month, Independence Day will be celebrated on September 21, followed by Indigenous People’s Resistance Day on October 12 — a relatively new addition that honors Belize’s indigenous heritage.
The final stretch of 2026 will feature Garifuna Settlement Day on November 19, and the Christmas holidays on December 25 and 26.
The 2026 calendar promises plenty of time for national celebration, cultural reflection, and family gatherings across Belize.
