By Belize Live News Staff: Police in Orange Walk are probing a brutal machete attack in August Pine Ridge Village that left a man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators report that the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, when the victim, a 31-year-old laborer, was at his home. He told police that two men dressed in black approached from a dark area, each armed with a machete, and launched a violent assault, inflicting several deep chop wounds before fleeing the scene.
The injured man was later taken to the Northern Regional Hospital, where he was treated for a large wound to the head, another to his left hand, and one to his lower back.
Police have recorded statements and processed the crime scene, which was photographed and examined by a Scenes of Crime Technician. A medico-legal form was issued and is awaiting certification as the investigation continues.
Authorities are appealing to the public for information that could help identify the attackers. The motive for the attempted murder remains unknown at this time.
