Technician escapes injury after swerving to avoid iron object on Yo Creek Road

By Belize Live News Staff: A near miss on Yo Creek Road could have ended much worse for a Belize City technician after his Chevrolet Silverado pickup ended up in a roadside ditch on Wednesday afternoon.

Police officers responding to a minor road traffic accident at around 2:00 p.m. on November 5 found the white 2021 pickup partially submerged in a ditch along the right side of the highway. The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Yo Creek Village toward Orange Walk Town when the driver swerved to avoid an iron object in the road.

The quick maneuver caused him to lose control of the vehicle, which then slid off the pavement. The front of the pickup and tires sustained visible damage, but the driver walked away without injuries.

According to investigators, all vehicle documentation was up to date, and the driver was advised to file a report at the police station.

While the incident resulted in no casualties, authorities are once again urging motorists to exercise caution on rural roads, especially as debris and road hazards become more common during the rainy season.
