By Belize Live News Staff: Police were called out late Monday night after reports of nearly a dozen gunshots in the Hangar area of Belize City, a location that has been in the news recently due to controversies surrounding land ownership.
According to authorities, multiple police mobiles were dispatched to the area following the sound of several shots. Officers searched parked vehicles and combed nearby neighborhoods, but no suspects or expended shells were found at the scene.
Residents in the area reported hearing rapid gunfire, which caused alarm and sparked discussion in neighborhood chat groups. Police said that initial checks suggest the shots may have come from the direction of the sea, but investigations are ongoing to determine the source and motive.
The Hangar area has long been associated with tension over land disputes and recent criminal activity, making Monday night’s incident another cause for concern among residents.
