Tropical Storm Beryl threatens to intensify into major hurricane, Caribbean on alert

By Belize Live News: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Beryl, which is rapidly gaining strength in the Atlantic and is expected to become a major hurricane by Monday. This poses a significant threat to the Caribbean islands, including the Windward Islands, which are expected to be the first to experience Beryl’s impact.

Currently located east-southeast of Barbados, Beryl is forecast to bring heavy rainfall, hurricane-force winds, and dangerous storm surge as it moves westward. Residents in the Caribbean are advised to closely monitor updates from the NHC and local authorities, and to prepare for potential impacts.

While the exact path of the storm remains uncertain, it is expected to move across the Windward Islands and into the Caribbean Sea. The NHC warns that even if Beryl weakens slightly upon entering the Caribbean, it could still pose a significant threat to the region.

This early-season storm serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and vigilance during hurricane season. Belizeans are encouraged to review their hurricane plans, stock up on emergency supplies, and stay informed about the latest weather updates.
