Orange Walk man critically injured in chopping incident, police investigating

By Belize Live News Staff: Orange Walk Police are investigating a violent chopping incident that has left a 32-year-old man in critical condition at the Northern Regional Hospital.

According to police reports, officers visited the hospital around 7:25 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, where they spoke to the victim’s father, a 61-year-old laborer of August Pine Ridge Village. He told officers that around 3:00 a.m., his son arrived at his home bleeding heavily from the head, hands, and back before collapsing unconscious at his doorstep.

The father said he tried to get help to transport his son to the hospital, but no one in the area wanted to assist him. He also admitted that in the panic, he forgot to call the police and was unsure what had happened to his son.

Police observed the victim suffering from deep chop wounds to the upper head, left elbow, and lower back. He was receiving medical treatment at the hospital when police arrived. The attending physician classified the injuries as life-threatening.

A medico-legal form has been issued, and police have launched an investigation into the attack as they work to determine who inflicted the injuries and why.
