By Belize Live News Staff: Fair and mostly dry conditions are expected across Belize today as a light northerly airflow supports stable weather. The National Meteorological Service forecasts sunny skies with a few cloudy spells and only isolated showers through tonight.
Winds will blow from the north to northwest at 5–15 knots, shifting to northeast later tonight, and seas will remain lightly choppy with waves between 2 to 4 feet. Temperatures along the coast will peak at 88°F (31°C), while inland areas could reach 93°F (33°C).
Meanwhile, Hurricane Melissa remains a powerful Category 5 system, located about 135 miles southwest of Kingston, Jamaica, with sustained winds near 160 mph. Forecasters say the storm will turn toward the northwest and north later today, then move northeast on Tuesday.
The National Meteorological Service confirms that Melissa poses no threat to Belize, but continues to monitor its movement closely as it lashes parts of the northern Caribbean.
