Tropical wave shows signs of development over the Caribbean

By Belize Live News Staff: A low-pressure area in the central Caribbean Sea is showing signs of organization, and forecasters say it could develop into a tropical storm later today. The system, designated AL98, is producing winds near 45 miles per hour and has begun forming a more defined circulation center. The U.S. Air Force Hurricane Hunters are expected to conduct an investigation to determine whether the disturbance has strengthened into a named storm. While the system poses no immediate threat to Belize, the National Meteorological Service (NMS) continues to closely monitor its progress. Residents are urged to stay informed as the system drifts slowly westward. Meanwhile, local weather conditions in Belize will remain partly cloudy to cloudy, with showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly in southern and coastal areas tonight.

By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize continues to monitor a tropical wave, designated AL98, located over the eastern Caribbean Sea, a few hundred miles west of the Windward Islands.

The system is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami say gradual development of this system is likely as it moves westward across the central Caribbean Sea by mid to late week.

At this time, the system poses no immediate threat to Belize, but the NMS advises the public to stay alert and follow official updates as conditions may become more favorable for development in the coming days.
