Home Affairs CEO removed as chair of firearms control board

By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed that CEO Sharole Saldivar has stepped down as Chairlady of the Firearms and Ammunitions Control Board.

Home Affairs Minister Kareem Musa said the change was due to Saldivar’s growing workload within the Ministry and her involvement in New Growth Industries.

“It was taking up a lot of her time, so she’s asked to have someone else take over,” Musa explained.

Saldivar had chaired the board since its creation to improve transparency in gun licensing. No replacement has been announced, but Magistrate Manon Dennison and Deputy Commissioner Bart Jones will remain on the panel.
