By Belize Live News Staff: Police have formally arrested and charged a 50-year-old tour guide, Sidney Louis Peyrefitte, for the murder of well-known Belize City resident, Kenneth “Big Tom” Flowers. The arrest was made on Wednesday, October 8, after investigators obtained a warrant.
Flowers, aged 47, was fatally shot on Monday afternoon while driving near the corner of Mopan and Mahogany Streets. After the attack, his vehicle crashed on Sittee Street, and he later succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
The incident has drawn widespread public attention due to Flowers’ high profile in the community. Flowers was known for his past involvement in street life but more recently for his efforts to promote peace and community outreach in Belize City.
Peyrefitte remains in police custody and is awaiting arraignment in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.
