By Belize Live News Staff: Moist and unstable weather conditions continue to linger over Belize, bringing showers and thunderstorms to parts of the country this morning.
According to the National Meteorological Service, skies will be sunny with some cloudy spells today, becoming cloudy at times tonight. A few showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain are expected mostly over southern and some coastal areas this morning, decreasing and becoming isolated by this afternoon. Later tonight, a few showers and thunderstorms will develop around the country, particularly along coastal areas.
Winds will blow from the east to southeast at 10 to 20 knots, and the sea state will be choppy with waves between 3 to 5 feet.
Temperatures will peak near 85°F (29°C) along the coast, 86°F (30°C) inland, and 77°F (25°C) in the hills. Tonight, temperatures are expected to fall to 79°F (26°C) on the coast, 75°F (24°C) inland, and 68°F (20°C) in the hills.
In the tropical weather outlook, forecaster Tareek Matthews reports that Tropical Storm Jerry, located about 835 miles east-southeast of the Northern Leeward Islands, is moving west-northwest at 23 mph with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. The system poses no threat to Belize.
For Thursday and Thursday night, skies will remain partly cloudy to cloudy at times with isolated showers and thunderstorms during the day and a slight increase in activity over northern areas Thursday night.
