Life sentence handed down in 2014 murder of Wesley Junior College student

By Belize Live News Staff: After more than a decade, justice has been delivered in the 2014 murder of 16-year-old Wesley Junior College student Chryslln Gladden.

On Thursday, Justice Antoinette Moore sentenced 34-year-old Clement Bol Jr. to life in prison. Bol was convicted of luring Gladden to Lord Ridge Cemetery in Belize City in August 2014, where she was viciously stabbed 32 times. At least 25 years must pass before Bol can be considered for parole.

Bol’s co-accused and former girlfriend, Ashley Meighan, who was 17 at the time, remains a fugitive. She fled in November 2022 on the very day sentencing was to be handed down. Authorities continue to pursue her.

In court, Bol, represented by attorney Javier Williams, apologized to Gladden’s family. The Crown was represented by Pirsha Staine-Ferguson, who urged the court to impose the maximum penalty. Justice Moore agreed, describing the act as one of extreme violence.
