Tropical systems monitored but no threat to Belize

Tropical systems monitored but no threat to Belize

By Belize Live News Staff: Forecasters continue to monitor two tropical systems in the Atlantic, but neither poses any threat to Belize at this time.

A tropical wave near Hispaniola, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and eastern Cuba (designated AL94) is producing showers and thunderstorms that show signs of organization. The system has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Humberto was located at 3:00 a.m. near latitude 22.2N, longitude 57.3W, or about 465 miles northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. Humberto has maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and is drifting northwest at 3 mph.

Both systems are being closely monitored, but Belize remains in no danger.
