By Belize Live News Staff: Abigail Tuttle O’Keeffe, 54, has been extradited from Belize to Pennsylvania where she faces 149 charges in what authorities are calling the largest farm animal cruelty case in Bucks County history.
O’Keeffe was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in Belize last week, following her arrest in April on an unrelated firearm charge. She arrived in Pennsylvania over the weekend and was arraigned shortly after.
Investigators allege that O’Keeffe’s former property, Narrow Way Farm in Wrightstown, Pennsylvania, housed hundreds of animals in deplorable conditions. Several animals died from malnutrition and neglect, while others were discovered suffering from severe parasitic infections. Authorities also uncovered a makeshift composting site filled with animal carcasses.
More than 100 animals rescued from the farm required urgent veterinary care, with some euthanized due to the severity of their conditions.
The extradition was coordinated by the U.S. Marshals Service, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, and INTERPOL Washington. O’Keeffe remains at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of a $500,000 bail.
