44 new citizens welcomed as Belize marks 44 years of independence

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s State of the Nation Address this morning in Belmopan is more than a review of national progress—it is also a celebration of citizenship and unity. In a ceremony tied to the 44th anniversary of Independence, 44 new Belizean citizens will be sworn in, symbolizing the nation’s growth and resilience.

Prime Minister John Briceño will use today’s address at the University of Belize Gymnasium to reflect on the past year, outlining the government’s priorities and plans ahead. The relocation of the event indoors comes as a result of inclement weather, but the significance of the day remains unchanged.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Culture Francis Fonseca emphasized that Belize is “on the move” and “on the rise,” highlighting the contributions that new citizens and long-standing Belizeans alike will make in shaping the future of the country.

The State of the Nation Address continues to serve as a pivotal moment for Belizeans at home and abroad, offering a direct look at where the nation stands and where it is headed as it celebrates its independence and unity.
