Tracy Taegar Panton calls for unity as the Opposition stands firm on Belize’s sovereignty

By  Belize Live News Staff: Opposition Leader Tracy Taegar Panton has reaffirmed that Belize’s sovereignty is not for sale, not up for debate, and will never be negotiable, issuing a strong call for unity as Guatemalan military aggression continues at the Sarstoon.

In her official statement, Taegar Panton said Belize’s borders and independence were secured through the sacrifices of past generations and should not be compromised under any circumstance. “Our national identity is not subject to compromise, political convenience, or foreign provocation,” she stated.

She added that despite external rhetoric, Belize remains a beacon of peace and opportunity in the region. “Thousands of neighboring nationals have chosen to make Belize their home, live peacefully among us, and contribute to our economy,” she said, highlighting Belize’s lived example of peaceful coexistence.

The Opposition Leader warned that Belizeans must respond to threats not with fear but with “unity, resolve, and pride.” She reminded the nation that sovereignty is guaranteed under international law and supported by global allies.

Calling on the government to act decisively, she urged the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to ensure timely communication with Belizeans while escalating Guatemala’s aggression to the OAS and international partners.

“Belize will remain unwavering and free,” she declared, closing with a resounding call: “Long Live Belize!”
