By Belize Live News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño says Belize is “paying a heavy price” in the fight to keep narco-traffickers out of the country, even as the US ramps up military operations in the Caribbean.
Reacting to reports of warships deployed by Washington, Briceño admitted concern but stressed Belize’s focus is on keeping drug networks from crossing its borders. “Keeping our citizens safe has a price tag,” he said, noting millions are spent trying to contain the threat.
US officials have hinted at more operations in the region, underscoring that the fight against narco-trafficking remains far from over.
