By Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s national inflation rate stood at 1.2 percent in July 2025, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report from the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB).
The All-Items CPI rose to 120.4, up from 118.9 in July 2024, reflecting higher household costs across key categories. The increase was driven mainly by food, non-alcoholic beverages, and housing-related expenses.
Food prices climbed 2 percent compared to July 2024. Notable increases were seen in meats such as pork (up 10.4 percent), beef steak (up 9.9 percent), and chicken wings (up 7 percent). Beverages like purified water (10.7 percent), juices (11.7 percent), and soft drinks (7.7 percent) also recorded sharp hikes.
The housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuels category rose by 2.6 percent, fueled by higher rents and an increase in LPG prices, with the cost of a 100-pound cylinder up $11.93 year-on-year, from $118.16 to $130.09.
Meanwhile, the transport category saw a 2 percent decline, as falling fuel prices offset rising intercity taxi fares. Premium gasoline fell from $13.81 to $13.22 per gallon, regular from $12.55 to $11.86, and diesel from $12.04 to $11.34.
By municipality, San Pedro Town recorded the highest inflation at 3.1 percent, while Independence Village saw a 0.9 percent decrease, the lowest in the country.
