By Belize Live News Staff: Following widespread backlash over comments about counterfeit school bags, A&R Enterprises Ltd. has issued an official statement apologizing to Belizeans and clarifying its stance on the matter.
In the release, the board of directors expressed regret for any “misunderstanding or offense” caused by their earlier remarks. They stressed that their intention was never to criticize or undermine charitable drives that have been helping students prepare for the new school year.
“As the authorized distributor of JanSport in Belize, we feel a responsibility to protect the authenticity and warranty of the brand,” the statement read. “Unfortunately, counterfeit products bearing the JanSport name are widely available, and we believe it’s important to raise awareness so customers are not misled.”
The company emphasized that its loyalty remains with Belizean families and ensuring they receive genuine products. They noted that A&R has served Belize for 36 years, consistently supporting schools, families, and community initiatives often without publicity.
“We kindly ask for the public’s understanding that our concern was never about discouraging acts of generosity, but about ensuring that Belizeans receive the quality they expect when it comes to trusted brand names,” the statement continued.
Moving forward, A&R reaffirmed its commitment to work with schools, community leaders, and organizations to ensure that every child has the tools needed to succeed.
The company closed by thanking Belizeans for their loyalty and patronage, pledging to remain a committed partner in education and community development.
