Belize Police officers honored after successful crimes investigative training

By Belize Live News Staff: Forty-five officers of the Belize Police Department have successfully completed a Crimes Investigative Training course designed to strengthen the department’s investigative capacity and enhance collaboration across specialized units.

The training, held from August 4th to 15th, 2025, at the National Police Training Academy, was organized by the National Crimes Investigation Branch under the coordination of Sr. Supt. Gerald Jones, Deputy Head of the Branch.

Participants were drawn from key units including the Crimes Investigation Branch, Professional Standards Branch, Tourism Police Unit, Special Patrol Unit, Mobile Interdiction Team, Financial Intelligence Unit, and the Gender-Based Violence Response and Investigative Unit.

The program covered a wide range of investigative and legal topics such as constitutional law, cybercrime, homicide investigations, interviewing techniques, crime scene management, and financial oversight. Officers engaged in written assessments, group exercises, and practical drills, all aimed at sharpening their investigative skills.

Top honors went to Cpl. Frederico Che, who secured 1st Place in the written test, followed by PC #1717 Keiran Bardarlez in 2nd Place, and PC #548 Miguel Itch in 3rd Place.

Commissioner of Police Dr. A. Richard Rosado congratulated the officers on their achievement and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to continuous training as part of its strategy to deliver professional and effective policing.
