By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect generally fair weather conditions today, according to the latest forecast from the National Meteorological Service.
Skies will be sunny with occasional cloudy spells during the day and partly cloudy tonight, with only isolated showers or thunderstorms anticipated across the country.
Winds will blow from the east to southeast at 5 to 15 knots, producing slight sea conditions with waves between 1 and 3 feet. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach highs of 88°F (31°C) along the coast, 94°F (34°C) inland, and 82°F (28°C) in the hills. Nighttime lows will drop to 80°F (27°C) on the coast, 74°F (23°C) inland, and 68°F (20°C) in the hills.
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Erin was located near latitude 18.1N, longitude 55.2W at 6:00 a.m., approximately 520 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands. Erin is moving west-northwest at 17 mph with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. The system poses no threat to Belize at this time.
Meanwhile, a broad area of low pressure over the Bay of Campeche has become better organized and has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours.
Saturday’s forecast calls for similar weather conditions to today, with continued sunshine, light winds, and isolated showers.
