Mother says son sensed death before murder in Ladyville

By Belize Live News Staff: A Ladyville murder victim’s mother says her son had a premonition about his own killing.

Joshua Martells, 25, of Lord’s Bank, left home on August 5. His mother, Cariel Bainton, says he told her that he feared he would be killed. She last saw him heading into a swampy area toward a waiting vehicle.

When police visited her this week, they informed her that Martells’ decomposed body had been found in Ladyville. Authorities believe the murder was gang-related.

Bainton, who recognized her son by a chain around his neck, says her only wish now is to bury him in peace and to see justice served. She called on mothers to protect their children from criminal influences.
