By Belize Live News Staff: The body of 14-year-old Axel Oroman, who went missing after falling off a jet ski near the Haulover Bridge on Saturday afternoon, has just been found.
Axel had been riding on a jet ski with 55-year-old Roy Kittler in the Belize River around 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, when the jet ski lost control, throwing both into the water. While Kittler was able to swim to safety, Axel never resurfaced.
Initial rescue efforts by lifeguards from Maya Princess Casino were unsuccessful. The Belize Coast Guard launched a search operation but were unable to locate the teen on Saturday. The search resumed early Sunday morning, and Axel’s body was recovered shortly after.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
