By Belize Live News Staff: The Office of the Prime Minister has announced that Prime Minister John Briceño departed Belize on Sunday, July 6, 2025, for Montego Bay, Jamaica, where he will participate in the 49th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
This annual high-level meeting brings together CARICOM leaders to discuss pressing regional issues, including economic development, climate change, regional security, trade, and collaboration on key priorities across member states. The 49th CARICOM conference is expected to further regional dialogue and reinforce commitments to unity and cooperation among Caribbean nations.
Prime Minister Briceño is expected to return to Belize on July 10, 2025. In his absence, Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining, will act as Prime Minister.
The Government of Belize reaffirms its dedication to active engagement in CARICOM and strengthening regional integration for the benefit of all Belizeans and Caribbean citizens.
