CEO Chester Williams calls out delay in $80K theft investigation

CEO Chester Williams calls out delay in $80K theft investigation

By Belize Live News Staff: Weeks after uncovering a massive misappropriation of public funds at the Department of Transport’s Spanish Lookout branch, the case has seen no progress in terms of arrests.

CEO Chester Williams, who has been pushing for accountability, says the police and prosecution process is still caught in bureaucratic limbo.

Williams shared that the file had initially reached the Director of Public Prosecutions but was returned to police for additional instructions.

Whether the police have since resubmitted the file is uncertain. Meanwhile, Williams confirmed he sent a separate report to the Ministry of the Public Service just yesterday, asking that disciplinary action be taken against the officer under scrutiny.

Still, the case remains at a standstill.
