By Belize Live News Staff: A recent visitor to Caye Caulker, May Prévost from Québec, Canada, is capturing hearts online after sharing an emotional reflection about her experience on the island and her dream to return—not just as a tourist, but as a marine conservationist.
Posting in the Caye Caulker: Belize Group, May described her visit earlier this year as life-changing. “Since I left CC, I don’t know how to explain it, but I feel like the island’s been calling me back deeply,” she wrote. “Not for the parties or the hype, but for that slow rhythm, the sea, the breeze, the way everything just breathes.”
May recently completed her degree in bio-ecology and shared her growing passion for marine conservation after exploring Hol Chan Marine Reserve. “I think about snorkeling almost every day,” she admitted. “I dream of becoming a tour guide and living close to the sea, while doing marine conservation, and truly vibrating with that underwater world.”
Her message resonated with many, especially those who’ve felt Caye Caulker’s magnetic pull even after leaving. “I’m just wondering… has anyone else ever felt this kind of call from this island? Not just a trip but something that stays in your soul after you leave?” she asked fellow group members.
Despite skepticism from others about her desire to move to Belize, May remains hopeful and grounded. “I don’t have any plan,” she wrote, “but I know I have this wish to truly connect with people and help in ways that feel respectful.”
Her post has since sparked supportive comments and connections from others who’ve experienced the same powerful draw to Caye Caulker’s laid-back, sea-centered life.
