By Belize Live News Staff: The ministry Julius Espat had been leading now belongs to someone else, and Government has yet to say where that leaves him.
Following a marathon Cabinet meeting, Home Affairs was renamed the Ministry of National Security and assigned to Cayo North Area Representative Michel Chebat.
Espat took on responsibility for Home Affairs after Oscar Mira was sidelined following the controversy dubbed the “Mira Millions” scandal.
Last week, Prime Minister John Briceño said he would take his decision on the substantive police portfolio to Cabinet before making it public. With that decision now made, Espat has been passed over for the post.
There has been no official statement on whether Espat will take on a different ministry or what role he will play in Government going forward.
