By Belize Live News Staff: Two empty beer crates worth just $10 have landed an Orange Walk man in serious trouble.
A businesswoman says her home security cameras caught a man sneaking onto her property on Saturday night while she was out.
According to her report, the man slipped under her front gate, went straight to a stack of crates in her shed, grabbed two empty Belikin crates and threw them into a neighbouring yard. He then climbed back over the gate, collected the crates and walked away.
The woman told police she recognized the man as a neighbour she has known since childhood. She said it was not the first time he had taken items from her property, but she had never reported it before. This time, she said, she was tired of it.
Police located the man at her business around 11:40pm, where she identified him as the person in the video.
On Sunday, Hector David August, 43, was formally charged with burglary. He chose to remain silent when cautioned.
