By Belize Live News Staff: A Guinea Grass truck driver did not wait around after his truck battery was stolen. He went looking for it.
The 59 year old told police he discovered the battery missing on Wednesday morning and immediately called his employer.
Later that day, the employer received information that a Shipyard resident had bought a battery from a man from Guinea Grass. The pair drove to the buyer’s home, where the battery was positively identified and handed over.
The truck driver said he knew the man who allegedly sold it. After searching Guinea Grass for about an hour, he spotted him near the community centre and followed him from a distance to his sister’s house near the river.
He called the Orange Walk Police, who arrived and detained the man.
On Friday, police formally charged Jorge Jimenez, 30, a laborer of Guinea Grass Village, with theft.
