By Belize Live News Staff: Punta Gorda is more than its bad news, and one Belizean wants the country to start showing it.
In a post making the rounds on social media, the writer pointed out that Guatemala has billboards reaching into Belizean territory, while PG gets no commercials, no ads and no promotional media.
The post also took a humorous jab at the situation, referencing the “Jesus Saves” signs posted on buildings and street corners across the country. The writer noted that a message 2,000 years old has better marketing than PG.
The comments add to a growing conversation about Toledo’s future. Tropic Air is closing its Punta Gorda station on November 1, and the Belize Tourism Industry Association, Opposition Leader Tracy Panton and former PG Mayor Ashton McKenzie have all called for stronger promotion of the south.
The message from the post is simple: there is a lot more Belize can do to promote tourism in Punta Gorda.
