Belize starts October with 94 degree heat and isolated thunderstorms

Hot Day

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize is starting the month of October with hot temperatures and the possibility of isolated showers and thunderstorms.

The National Meteorological Service says warm, somewhat moist and unstable airflow is prevailing over the country today.

Skies will be mostly sunny with a few cloudy intervals before becoming partly cloudy tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms will generally remain isolated during the day.

However, a few more are expected to develop over northern and inland areas this afternoon.

By late tonight, some coastal areas could also experience additional showers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures will remain hot, particularly inland, where the daytime high is expected to reach 94 degrees Fahrenheit.

Along the coast, temperatures will reach around 89 degrees, while the hills can expect highs near 81 degrees.

Marine conditions will be choppy with waves between three and five feet. Winds will blow from the east to southeast at 10 to 15 knots.

Similar weather conditions are expected on Friday and Friday night.

The tropics are also relatively quiet.

Forecasters say tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the region during the next 48 hours.
