By Belize Live News Staff: Two armed robbers may have picked the wrong time to hit a gas station on Monday night.
The Quick Response Team was called to a 24/7 gas station after two pump attendants were held up at gunpoint around 8:40pm.
According to police, two Hispanic men arrived on a motorcycle, pulled what looked like a 9mm pistol and demanded cash. They escaped with between $200 and $300.
But a police inspector was in the store at the time. He told police that once he realized what was happening, he pulled his licensed firearm and fired about eight shots after the robbers.
The men got away.
Police have not released descriptions of the suspects. The Special Investigations Branch and Scenes of Crime personnel have been asked to assist as investigations continue.
