By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating a Saturday afternoon traffic accident involving a government owned Ministry of Health pickup and a motorcycle in Orange Walk Town.
The collision occurred at the junction of Belize Corozal Road and Staines Alley at around 12:30 p.m.
According to preliminary police investigations, a 17 year old was riding a motorcycle along Belize Corozal Road when a Ministry of Health pickup travelling in the opposite direction allegedly made a sudden left turn into Staines Alley.
The front of the motorcycle then collided with the right rear section of the pickup.
Police arriving at the scene found the motorcycle on the ground with damage that included a broken front mudguard, cracked headlight and bent front rim.
The teenage rider complained of pain to his right collarbone and sustained scrapes to fingers on his left hand. His injuries were subsequently classified as harm.
Police say the teenager had produced a learner’s permit, while the driver of the government pickup produced a driver’s licence and Government of Belize operator’s permit.
Statements were recorded from both parties and notices of intended prosecution were served.
The investigation continues.
