By Belize Live News Staff: Police in Orange Walk have charged a Guinea Grass Village resident with theft after an elderly woman reported that he took her bicycle and money intended for medication and never returned.
The complainant told police that the man visited her home on September 8 and that they spoke for about half an hour.
She reportedly explained that she had been ill and needed medication, then gave him $20 to make the purchase.
The woman also allowed him to use her black beach cruiser bicycle, valued at $435, to make the trip.
According to the report, he did not return with the medication, money or bicycle.
The woman later made a formal complaint and requested court action.
Police subsequently detained Andres Batun of Guinea Grass Village and charged him with theft.
