By Belize Live News Staff: Belize marked its 45th anniversary of Independence with international military partners joining national celebrations in Belize City.
The Belize Defence Force hosted visiting military leaders and representatives for an Independence flag raising ceremony at Memorial Park as the country celebrated 45 years since achieving Independence in 1981.
Military representatives from Barbados, Honduras, Jamaica and Canada were among the invited guests.
According to the BDF, their participation reflects the friendships and cooperation Belize maintains with partner nations.
The ceremony followed several days of activities involving the visiting delegations.
On Friday, the programme began with a welcome reception in Belize City. On Saturday, international guests attended the graduation of the Jungle Warfare Instructors Course 01/2026, which brought together military personnel from Belize, Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana and Honduras.
The visiting delegation also travelled to Caye Caulker, where guests participated in a cultural and heritage experience and explored Belize’s marine environment.
The programme culminates as Belize celebrates its 45th anniversary of Independence under the national theme, “Look at Me. I Am Belize at 45.”
