By Belize Live News Staff: Police in San Pedro made an ammunition discovery Friday morning while searching an abandoned lot in the San Mateo area.
The operation was carried out after officers received intelligence suggesting that firearms and ammunition may have been hidden at the location.
During the search, an officer noticed a white foam plate in a bushy section of the lot.
Police say a black plastic bag was found inside the plate, containing a box marked “Critical Defense.”
Further checks revealed live 9mm ammunition inside the box.
The rounds were described as red tip hollow point ammunition.
No one was found in the area, and the items were taken to the San Pedro Police Station for processing.
Police later counted 25 live 9mm rounds.
The ammunition was packaged, sealed and handed over as found property.
No arrests have been made in connection with the discovery.
