More than 300 children get free back to school cuts from the Coast Guard

By Belize Live News Staff: Any parent will tell you the back to school list adds up fast, and the barber is one more line on it.

The Belize Coast Guard has now given free haircuts and hair braiding to more than 300 children across the country as part of its Back-to-School Drive.

Teams have worked their way through Dangriga, Barranco, Hopkins, Punta Gorda, Consejo, Sarteneja, Caye Caulker and San Pedro. Independence, Monkey River and Coast Guard Headquarters are still to come.

The point goes beyond the cut itself. A child walking into a classroom on day one feeling sharp carries themselves differently, and that confidence shows up in how they start the year.

The Coast Guard credited its 1st Fleet and Services and Support Group for organising the effort, along with village and town councils, community leaders, and the barbers and braiders who gave their time.

Share the word so families know where the teams are heading next.
