By Belize Live News Staff: If you had plans on the water today, check the forecast before you go.
The National Meteorological Service has issued a small craft caution for Belize, with gusty winds and locally rough seas expected near heavy showers and thunderstorms.
Seas are choppy, with waves running 3 to 5 feet and easterly winds blowing at 10 to 20 knots. Conditions like these can turn quickly when a squall moves through, which is exactly what the caution is about.
On land, the picture is more manageable. A few showers, thunderstorms and some light rain moved over southern and central areas this morning, but that activity should decrease by afternoon, leaving sunshine with cloudy spells.
Tonight stays partly cloudy with a few showers or thunderstorms over the south and isolated showers elsewhere.
It remains warm across the country, hitting 94 degrees Fahrenheit inland, 88 on the coast and 80 in the hills.
Sunday looks calmer, mainly fair and warm with only isolated showers, except for a few more over southern Toledo Sunday night.
