By Belize Live News Staff : A visit to sort out a two week absence ended with a bleeding thumb and a criminal charge in Trial Farm Village on Saturday night.
A 20 year old construction worker told police he accompanied his common law wife around 10:30pm to meet her first child’s father. She said the man had taken her 8 year old daughter two weeks earlier and had no permission to keep her that long.
They found him seated on his motorcycle near a restaurant in the village. Police say he got off, pulled out a screwdriver and moved toward the younger man before the woman stepped in and stopped him.
That was not the end of it. Stones followed, and one hit the complainant’s right thumb hard enough to draw blood and swelling.
He walked into the Trial Farm Police Station that night and asked for court action. A doctor certified the injury as harm.
Angel Valdes, 29, a construction worker of East San Martin Street, has since been arrested and charged.
What should happen when custody arrangements break down like this?
