By Belize Live News Staff: Find the shade and fill the water bottle, because Belize’s beautiful weather week is peaking with its fiercest heat yet. Inland areas will roast at 95 degrees today under sunny skies, as the fair and dry pattern shows no sign of letting go.
The National Meteorological Service reports a light easterly airflow keeping conditions mostly fair and warm, with sunshine and cloudy spells through the day, partly cloudy skies tonight, and nothing more than isolated showers anywhere on the map.
The numbers tell the heat story. Inland communities top out at 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 Celsius), the week’s high-water mark, before relief arrives overnight at 73 (23 Celsius). The coast runs warm at 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) with a muggy low of 82 (28 Celsius), while the hills stay most comfortable, peaking at 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and cooling to a pleasant 66 (19 Celsius). On days like this, the old wisdom applies, water often, shade when possible, and extra care for the very young, the elderly, and anyone working outdoors.
The sea offers its own escape, with light easterly winds of 5 to 15 knots, a light chop, and waves of just 2 to 4 feet, perfect conditions for a cooling dip or a day on the water.
Far to the north, Tropical Storm Bertha is winding down its Gulf journey, sitting about 145 miles west-southwest of New Orleans with winds slipped to 45 mph as it tracks west along the Louisiana coast. It remains a United States story from first to last, and the Met Service confirms no tropical cyclone formation is expected elsewhere in the region over the next 48 hours.
Friday promises a repeat performance, similar conditions carrying the sunshine and the heat into the weekend.
