By Belize Live News Staff: Belize could hardly have ordered a better weekend. Mainly fair weather conditions prevail across the country, with sunshine today, the calmest seas in weeks, and a warm, dry Sunday on the way, just in time for World Cup final day.
According to the National Meteorological Service, skies will be sunny with a few cloudy spells today, turning clear to partly cloudy tonight. Any showers will be isolated.
The seas deserve special mention. After a stretch of small craft warnings and cautions, conditions have settled beautifully, with light easterly winds of 5 to 15 knots, a light chop, and waves of just 2 to 4 feet. It is the best day on the water in some time, ideal for boaters, fishers, and anyone heading to the cayes.
It will be a hot one, though. Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) and a low of 81 (27 Celsius). Inland areas will bake at 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) before dropping to 74 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 81 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius) and a cool low of 67 (19 Celsius).
On the tropical front, the calm holds. No tropical cyclone formation is expected over the region during the next 48 hours.
And the outlook seals the weekend: Sunday and Sunday night bring warm and mostly dry conditions, with showers, if any, staying isolated, perfect for wherever you plan to watch the World Cup final at 1:00 p.m.
Today’s low tides are at 6:48 AM and 7:33 PM, with a high tide at 12:49 PM and another high at 1:32 AM tomorrow. The sun sets this evening at 6:30 PM and rises tomorrow at 5:27 AM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Tareek Matthews.
