By Belize Live News Staff: Put the rubber boots back in the closet, Belize, the soaking week is winding down. The National Meteorological Service says conditions improve from today, with mainly fair weather on tap for the next couple of days.
There is one last bit of wet to get through first. Skies will be cloudy at times today, with a few showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms holding over central and southern areas through the morning before gradually easing this afternoon. Tonight turns partly cloudy, with only isolated showers or thunderstorms possible, mainly in the south.
The warmth stays steady through the transition. Inland areas reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) before cooling to 74 (23 Celsius). The coast tops out at 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) with a muggy low of 82 (28 Celsius), while the hills peak at 78 degrees Fahrenheit (26 Celsius) and dip to 68 (20 Celsius).
Out on the water, easterly winds of 10 to 20 knots will gust at times, with moderate seas and waves of 4 to 6 feet, manageable, but worth respecting near any heavy shower that passes.
The tropics remain quiet too, with no tropical cyclone formation expected anywhere in the region over the next 48 hours.
And the trend only gets better. Friday and Friday night bring a further decrease in shower activity, with just isolated showers expected, good news for weekend plans, from the cayes to the villages still drying out from the week’s floods.
As for the tides, today’s high comes at 11:06 AM with another at 12:15 AM tomorrow, and lows at 6:17 PM and 5:45 AM. The sun rose at 5:26 AM and sets this evening at 6:30 PM. This forecast was prepared by forecaster Michelle Augustine.
