By Belize Live News Staff: It is shaping up to be a cloudy, showery day across parts of Belize, as a weak tropical wave makes its approach, with the south set to see the most of the wet weather.
The National Meteorological Service reports that skies will be cloudy at times today and tonight. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely over the southern districts and some central areas, while the rest of the country will see only generally isolated showers or thunderstorms.
It will stay warm despite the clouds. Inland areas will see the highest temperatures, reaching 91 degrees Fahrenheit (33 Celsius) before dipping to 73 (23 Celsius). Along the coast, highs will hit 87 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) with a low of 80 (27 Celsius), while the hills stay cooler, topping out at 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius) and falling to 68 (20 Celsius).
Out on the water, winds will blow from the east to northeast at 10 to 20 knots, with choppy to moderate seas and waves of 3 to 6 feet, so small craft operators should take care.
There is good news on the tropical side. Even with the wave moving through, no tropical cyclone formation is expected anywhere in the region over the next 48 hours.
The outlook calls for more of the same, with similar weather conditions expected for Thursday and Thursday night.
