By Belize Live News Staff: A man is facing a charge after police found a pipe used for smoking controlled drugs during a patrol in Orange Walk Town.
According to the Belize Police Department, on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at around 10:30 p.m., officers on mobile patrol along Arthur Street had their attention drawn to a man. Police approached, identified themselves, and informed him that a search would be conducted for illegal drugs, firearms, or ammunition.
During the search, officers said they retrieved a silver metal pipe with burnt ends from the man’s front pocket. He was informed of the offence, cautioned, and advised of his constitutional rights.
At the Orange Walk Police Station, the man was identified as 27-year-old Jair Bartley, a Belizean labourer of no fixed address. Police said the pipe, measuring four inches in length, was sealed and labelled as evidence.
Bartley was subsequently charged with possession of a utensil for smoking controlled drugs. He was cautioned once more.
As with any matter, Bartley is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
