One dead after two motorcycles collide in Cayo

By Belize Live News Staff: A weekend road tragedy in the Cayo District has claimed the life of a 55-year-old man.

The collision took place on Saturday on the Cristo Rey road, when two motorcycles traveling in opposite directions crashed into each other. When police arrived, they found both motorcycles damaged and three people at the scene.

One of those involved, Aurelio Bonell, known to many as Jack Sparrow, did not survive. He succumbed to the injuries he received in the crash.

According to police spokesperson ACP Hilberto Romero, the matter is now under investigation. Officers will review the circumstances of the collision before deciding whether any charges will follow, and police have not assigned blame to anyone at this stage.

The crash is a painful reminder of how quickly lives can change on the road, and of the importance of caution for every rider and driver. As the community mourns, the family of Aurelio Bonell is left to grieve a sudden and heartbreaking loss.
