By Belize Live News Staff: For one day, the spotlight shifted away from crime scenes, patrols, and investigations and onto the officers who dedicate their lives to protecting Belizeans.
More than 300 police officers were honored this week during a special recognition ceremony held as part of Police Week activities.
The event celebrated officers who have spent years serving communities across the country, with awards presented for long service, dedication, and professional achievement. Several officers also received promotions during the ceremony.
For many recipients, the recognition marked years of sacrifice, missed family events, long nights, and the daily challenges that come with wearing the police uniform.
Police Commissioner Dr. Richard Rosado said acknowledging officers for their commitment is important to maintaining morale within the department, while Home Affairs Minister Oscar Mira noted that policing remains one of the most demanding professions in Belize.
The ceremony brought together officers from across the country and served as a reminder that beyond every badge is a person committed to serving the public, often under difficult circumstances.
As Police Week continues, the recognition ceremony remains one of the most meaningful events on the department’s calendar.
